Between the pandemic, the start of the flu season, the allergy or virus season, it is no wonder if you find yourself with a stuffy nose, sore throat or other worries. If you have a common cold, there is nothing big to worry about. But how long does the cold last before you suspect Covid?
The most common symptoms
According to Dr. Soma Mandal, the first few days of a common cold usually start with the following symptoms:
- nasal congestion
- liquid nose
- sore throat
After that, for the next three to five days you may have a cough and more nasal congestion. During this time make sure you consume as much fluid as possible to relieve symptoms.
Since Covid-19 has many symptoms similar to a common cold, (such as cough and sore throat) and can appear anywhere from two to 14 days after infection, the CDC recommends that you be tested as a precaution.
How long should a normal cold last?
According to dr. Mandal, a common cold can last 7-10 days. If your symptoms persist beyond this typical lifespan, (re) consult a physician.
