CNN correspondent Clarisa Ward went from reporting on clothing and colors and "exposing" the wings, to a veiled Islamic dress, just a day after the capture of Kabul by the Taliban .
On Sunday, August 15, Ms. Ward looked like this as she reported live from the war-torn country:
But the next day, she appeared in an "abbaya" dress and testified that she was "told to step aside from the militants guarding the presidential palace 'because she was a woman'".
"They call it 'Death to America', but friendly at the same time. They told me to stand aside because I am a woman. I have seen some women, but much less than I would normally see walking the streets of Kabul," she said. .
Clarissa confirmed that there was a change in the choice of her dress on Monday, after taking control of the Taliban, but she insisted that "the change was not so drastic".
She wrote on Twitter:
"The photo above (for the photo with her usual dress) is inside a private complex. The other photo is on the streets of Kabul held by the Taliban. I always wore a scarf on the street in Kabul before, though not with her hair down. "completely covered and abbaya. So there is a difference, but not so sharp."
Taliban officials have denied that the group is practicing sexual slavery - and claim that such actions are against the rules of Islam. However, these rampant practices occurred the last time the Taliban ruled Afghanistan in the 1990s.
