The first victim of fires was recorded in Gjirokastra. A couple tried to extinguish the flames that engulfed their apartment in the village of "Asim Zenel". The head of the family has lost his life, while the woman is being given medical assistance.
Today around 16:30, the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, asked the residents of the Lunxhëri-Antigone area to evacuate due to the risk of fire. He said it was a "dangerous fire" and that "as a result of the wind the situation has worsened and the fire is already very close to homes". The Armed Forces have gone to support the Civil Defense structures.
A critical situation occurs in the administrative unit Shllak in the Region of Shkodra. For several days this area has been under the power of flames and hundreds of hectares of forests and pastures have been burned.
Six firefighters and 15 sheltered workers are on the ground to contain the blaze, which is being favored by the wind.
Meanwhile, in Karaburun , it has been decided to increase the number of soldiers and helicopters to extinguish the fires.
