Every separation is different and just as different is the healing process that follows. If you find yourself asking "why am I still thinking about it and after so long?", Know that this is completely understandable. However, there are 3 basic things you need to do to overcome the pain of separation and what you think are feelings.

# 1 - Set distance between yourself and him / her

There are many factors that affect the healing process. For example, the longer you have been with someone, the more likely it is that you will need to recover from the breakup. If you are still seeing each other, physically or through social media - this is making things difficult. Find ways to distance yourself, depending on your situation, but at the same time do not be "afraid" of the presence of that person. Eventually, it will not impress you. "Time heals everything" and you just need more time.

That said, the digital "distance" is in your own hands. Do "mute", "block", "restriction" or anything that gives you peace of mind at that moment.

# 2 - Embrace the healing process

If you are disappointed in the fact that you are still thinking about your ex a year after the separation, you do not have to feel disappointed in yourself. Dr. Joshua Klapov, a clinical psychologist, says that "we can not force ourselves to fall in love and at the same time, we can not force him to no longer love someone, as with the button." In this context, you do not have to feel bad about something that is out of your control. Allow yourself to feel what you will feel.

Even if you have made progress and continued living, if it happens to you that the memories come back to you, this is normal. By trying not to think and block the feelings, you will unknowingly feed them more.

# 3 - Keep yourself busy

Life is too beautiful not to make the most of it. Keeping in mind that a separation is not the end of the world, look around and remind yourself that beautiful things await you!

Go out with a friend, do an outdoor activity, enroll in a foreign language course, dance, etc. Take every opportunity!
