Jamie Lynn Spears says she is proud of her older sister, Britney Spears, for speaking at a hearing last week in which the singer called for an end to her court-ordered "abusive" custody.
"Now that she has spoken clearly and said what she had to say, I feel like I too can follow her example and say what I need," the Zooey 101 star told Instagram Stories.
Britney Spears told the hearing last week that she felt compelled to perform, take medication and pursue her willpower therapy since custody began in 2008. In the video shared, Jamie Lynn Spears said she had spoken previously with the sister regarding the employment of a new lawyer.
"I'm very proud that she is finally using her voice. I'm very happy that she're finally looking for a new lawyer, as I told her to do years ago. Oh, not on a public platform, "But just in conversations between sisters ... If she finishes custody or goes to Mars, or whatever, I support her 100% if it makes her happy because I love my sister. It will always be that way!"
Spears defended her decision not to publicly address her sister's custody in the past.
"I may not have supported her in the way the public wanted - with a hashtag #FreeBritney - but I can assure you that I support my sister with more than one hashtag and will always support her. Let us continue to pray. This that's all, "concluded Jamie Lynn.
