You have thousands of sebaceous glands in your skin. These glands are responsible for producing sebum, or oil, which helps protect and hydrate the skin. Sometimes, the glands can produce too much oil and can make the skin look shiny or increase the risk of acne. If you see that the skin is oily in the T zone, you are not alone.
What is the T zone?
The T-zone on the face includes: forehead, nose and chin.
Compared to the rest of the face, the T zone has more sebaceous glands. This is why it tends to be more oily and more prone to acne.
How to care for such skin
1. Wash your face daily
One of the best ways to control an oily T-zone is to wash your face regularly. Washing the face removes excess sebum, along with dead skin cells, bacteria and impurities. You should wash your face:
- in the morning, after waking up
- after exercise or training
- in the evening, before going to bed
2. Use a mild cleanser
Choosing the right cleaner is the key to oil management. Look for an oil-free wash that does not clog pores and has a foamy texture. Avoid harsh facial cleansers, especially those with alcohol. Products that contain alcohol can dry out the skin, which will cause the sebaceous glands to produce even more oil.
3. Apply moisturizer every day
If you think that the fact that you have oily skin should not be hydrated, you are wrong. If the skin is dehydrated, it produces more oil.
4. Use makeup powder and not liquid products
If you want to use a cream or liquid product, choose products that are oil-free and do not clog pores.
5. Use blotting papers
The papers remove excess oil from the skin. In their absence, you can also use plain paper, but make sure they are soft and do not rub the skin. Simply place it on the problem area and press a little, but without pulling.
