European Union member states agreed on Wednesday (June 16th) to lift travel restrictions for travelers from several countries and territories, including Albania, meaning international travel will increase in Europe. Euronews.com has compiled a list of some of the states that have eased anti-Covid measures for the summer season.
Italy
- All regions of Italy are expected to be classified as "low risk" by the end of June, which means that travel between areas is possible.
- Cafes, bars, restaurants, hotels and theaters have been partially reopened to the public.
- Face masks remain mandatory in public places.
- International tourists have been welcomed in Italy since the beginning of June, with most visitors simply needing to submit a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival.
Franca
- If you have been vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the European Union, France is open to international tourists.
- Vaccinated travelers will also need to take a Covid test, no more than 72 hours before arrival.
- Face masks remain mandatory - even outside - but this is expected to change by the end of the month.
- Movement is allowed until 23:00. Cafes and restaurants are open, with lower capacity.
Spain
- Spain has opened the summer tourism season by welcoming all vaccinated travelers as well as European tourists who take a Covid test and test negative.
- Bars and restaurants are open, but accept only 50% of normal capacity and must close at 3am.
Greece
- Visitors must provide vaccination proof or a negative PCR test before entering the country. Quarantine does not apply to most.
- Cafes, bars and restaurants are open until shortly after midnight.
- Tourist areas, such as the Acropolis or other places in Athens, are functional.
Germany
- The 16 territories of Germany are currently subject to their own rules.
- Restrictions on vaccinated people have been completely lifted.
We add that even if some countries declare themselves safe, each EU country has the right to impose measures to fight the coronavirus.
