In May, Elon Musk will be the presenter of the comedy show, Saturday Night Live, however no one laughed at his latest statement.
In an interview with Peter Diamandis, founder and chairman of the X Prize Foundation for Scientific Discovery, he said:
"You could die, it would be uncomfortable and you probably would not have good food," he said, adding that it would be a "arduous and dangerous journey where you could not return alive."
"Honestly, some people will die early," he added, but insisted it would also be "a glorious adventure and amazing experience."
"It's not for everyone. Only volunteers!"
Elon Musk's Space X company has launched more than 100 rockets over the past decade. Some ended up exploding or otherwise colliding. Musk has predicted a landing on the planet Mars by 2026. Will there be volunteers?
