Anne Hathaway is shining with bold style choices while filming scenes for "The Devil Wears Prada 2," the long-awaited sequel that has already begun production on the streets of New York.
The Oscar winner reprises her role as Andy Sachs and was photographed in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood during filming. The film is also being shot in several other areas of Manhattan throughout the month.
A comeback after almost two decades
The original film “The Devil Wears Prada,” released in 2006, became an instant international hit, grossing over $326 million and earning Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. The story centered on Andy Sachs (Hathaway), an aspiring journalist who is hired as a personal assistant to Miranda Priestly (Streep), the ruthless editor of fashion magazine “Runway.”
While fans have been clamoring for a sequel for years, the actors themselves have been more reserved. Hathaway stated in an interview with The View in 2022 that a sequel would be "tempting," but not necessarily possible, due to changes in the media world.
“I’m not sure if it can be done,” she said at the time. “That film belonged to a different era. Everything is digital today, whereas that film was about creating something physical. a magazine. Things have changed a lot.”
The return of the original cast and many new surprises
In addition to Hathaway, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” also features the return of original stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. Tracie Thoms (Andy’s friend Lily) and Tibor Feldman (the head of “Runway’s” parent company) will also reprise their roles.
Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna also return behind the camera, turning the project into a major reunion for the film's original team.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but sources say the film follows Miranda Priestly as she grapples with the decline of the publishing industry and struggles to keep her empire afloat. A major challenge for her comes from her former assistant, Emily Blunt's character, who now controls the clients Miranda so desperately needs to keep close.
