Elon Musk * startup for chips in the brain published some images, which shows a monkey playing in a video game after the new technology was implanted.
Startup - a start-up company founded by one or more entrepreneurs to develop a new product or service.
Neuralink video shows Pager, a nine-year-old macaque monkey, playing Mind Pong. Neuralink was able to predict hand movements.
"Neuralink's first product will allow someone with paralysis to use a smart smartphone faster than someone using their thumbs," Musk wrote Thursday.
Neuralink works by recording and decoding electrical signals from the brain and using more than 2,000 electrodes implanted in regions of the monkey's motor cortex, which coordinate the movements of the hands and arms, the video says.
Co-founded by Musk in 2016, San Francisco-based Neuralink aims to implant chips in the brain to help cure neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia and spinal cord injuries, although the technology is still in its early stages.
