Although there has been a declining trend in the number of infections in the country, the situation remains delicate. Therefore, today the Committee of Experts decided that the restrictive measures in force continue for another two weeks.
In addition to this issue, vaccination was the next discussion. Asked if a single person can be given two different doses of vaccines, Albana Fico, the director of the IPH said that at the moment they have no such instruction.
"Theoretically, to date, manufacturers have recommended the use of the same vaccine. We have a vaccine like Sputnik, which has two elements, but they are the same as the vaccine. And there is a reason why they are called 26 and 5 by the way they are inserted and how the mechanism reacts. There are some attempts like AstraZeneca with Sputnik V, but these are in the preliminary stages. "As long as we do not have anything from the Scientific Committee that evaluates them, we will remain with those guidelines with which the vaccines come to Albania," she said.
This means that those next groups that will undergo the vaccination process will receive both doses of the same vaccine.
