In a post on GatesNotes - a blog where Bill Gates shares his thoughts - the Microsoft founder addresses the issue of Covid-19, where among other things he shows his approach to the problems.
"Ever since I was a teenager, I have treated every new and big problem in the same way: starting with two questions. I used this technique at Microsoft and still use it today. I ask these questions literally every week about Covid-19. ” - he writes.
The questions are:
1. Who handled this problem well?
2. What can I learn from them?
What Gates suggests is the approach to the problem. Contrary to what most of us can do - where we try to solve the problem - Gates advises that before we try to solve it, we need to learn more about it. In other words, to act as a "learner" and to learn from the experience of others.
It can be hard to accept that you need to learn from others, but in many cases it can be the best solution. In other words, it's like watching a tutorial "how to unlock the sink". Someone else did it in front of you and shared this information. You just learn faster. All you have to do is ask.
