This year’s Grammy Awards are taking steps to promote diversity, philanthropy and inclusion ( unlike the Golden Globes ). Women's Wear Daily (WWD) says the bags that will be distributed to VIPs this year will be filled with products from companies owned by BIPOC.
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) is a project that aims to promote people of color and locals. The $ 5,000 bag will feature items like t-shirts and tote bags from Bonfire, a free online platform where anyone can design, sell and buy custom products.
Bonfire is collaborating with the Noah Trevor Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps orphans and young people in need of education and livelihoods. The foundation is run by comedian Trevor Noah, who will also be the moderator of the Grammy Awards.
The bag will also include a gift card for clothing by Signed By McFly. Mugzy McFly, founder of Signed By McFly, told WWD that he is excited that his name will be included in the purse and hopes the exposure will help his business.
The 63rd Grammy Awards Ceremony will be held on March 15 (1pm, our local time).
