The Duke of Sussex, who shocked the UK when he and his wife Meghan Markle retired from royal duties, told Oprah Winfrey that he was concerned that history would repeat itself, referring to his mother.
CBS has released two short clips from Winfrey's interview with the couple, an interview that is scheduled to air on March 7th. This is the first television interview they have given since moving to California last year.
"My biggest concern was repeating history," Harry said, apparently referring to his mother, Diana, who died at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris while being chased by paparazzi.
"I'm just relieved and happy to be talking about it with you with my wife by my side," the prince said. "Because I can not imagine what it could have been like for [Diana] to go through this process herself all years ago."
"It was very difficult for both of us, but at least we had each other," he added.
In an interview with James Corden "The Late Late Show" last week, Harry said media interference in his family life was the main reason for leaving the kingdom.
