If you adore soft hotel towels and do not understand why your towels harden and become like sandpaper after a few washes, you are not alone. You have tried to wash them with good laundry detergent, softener scent, everything to be more pleasant and softer for your skin, but even these have not been enough.
Sometimes, it is better to do less than more when it comes to towel care as you may have inadvertently washed them wrong by now.
Cold water is enough, with the normal amount of detergent, without softener and minimal drying, so much for soft towels at all times. Low temperatures do not shrink the towel, retain color and work better on stains.
Chemicals in fabric softeners can damage the fibers and make towels less elastic after each wash. You can give more longevity to towels by washing them separately and not with other clothes, so avoid sweating as well. Be careful not to over-specify the amount of detergent you should use, discard as much as recommended. Allow as little as possible to dry, as excess heat damages them and it is better to dry naturally.
