On the outskirts of the Finnish capital, a snow-covered golf course has been turned into a work of art.
IT consultant Janne Pykko created the digitally intertwined bow model and then recruited snow boots from a Facebook group to bring the model to life.
Snowshoeing is a type of hiking that takes place in deep snow. It is thought to have been invented in Central Asia by wool traders and other people addicted to moving in deep snow. Snow boots are worn to balance a person’s weight over a larger area and ensure durability.
It took the group of volunteers 3 hours to create the artwork. They followed a printed map and used ropes to find traces in the snow.
The design is a mandala, a geometric configuration of symbols held sacred in Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Measuring 160 meters wide, the snow drawing is believed to be the largest ever created in the Nordic country.
"I think I'll go back to my computer, design something different, maybe a little smaller, and because people are so enthusiastic about doing it again, I think there will be new snow drawings in the coming weeks. , ”Said Janne.
