How aspirin helps pregnant women with a history of miscarriages

A new study from the American College of Physicians found that taking a low-dose aspirin on a daily basis can improve pregnancy outcomes for women who have previously experienced miscarriage.

The report, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, found that the benefits were more pronounced in women who started taking aspirin daily before conception. Pregnancy results were also better when women strictly adhered to therapy with a low-dose aspirin, taking it between 4 and 7 days a week.

Why does aspirin have this effect? Aspirin is recommended as a routine for pregnant women with preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) and antiphospholipid syndrome (an autoimmune disorder that causes blood clots). Aspirin improves blood flow to the placenta, which reduces the number of abortions.

Careful! Aspirin is not recommended for everyone because of the risk of bleeding, so it is important to talk to a doctor about the benefits and risks of therapy before trying this method.
