It is true that urinary tract diseases (STUs) are common in women and those who are sexually active are more at risk. A urinary tract infection occurs when bacteria from the ureter reach the kidneys where they multiply and cause infections. These infections are often related to sexual intercourse as during them the urethra faces new bacteria and in the female anatomy, the path to the kidneys is shorter than in males.
Urination after sex helps remove bacteria before they travel to the kidneys, but this process does not have a set time. While urinating before and after sex reduces the chances of getting an STU, for this it is not necessary to have a stopwatch. So if you do not feel the need to urinate, then do not push yourself.
Just make sure you do this before you fall asleep. If you feel the need to urinate, do not ignore it. After sex or at any other time of the day, never hold your urine as this can increase the number of bacteria and make infections worse. So do it when it comes to you and to emphasize: hide in the direction from front to back.
Some women are more affected by these infections than others. Factors such as diabetes, kidney stones or urinary tract abnormalities make some women more easily affected by urinary tract infections. If you have up to three such infections in a year, consider yourself part of this group.
If you have never had urinary tract infections or are very rare and do not urinate immediately after sex, you can continue your routine.
If it has never been a problem for you, then there is nothing wrong with not urinating after sex. Maybe you are just well hydrated and urinate regularly.
