Recently you have probably heard a lot about the new communication platforms Signal and Telegram, which are worthily replacing WhatsApp due to the data security they offer.
For years, WhatsApp has been considered one of the most secure companies, but Facebook policy changes have led to the collection of user data through WhatsApp to be used by Facebook.
What is the difference between Signal and Telegram?
Signal only asks for your phone number, nothing else while Telegram asks for your number, name, contact list and ID. Nevertheless, both of these platforms require and dispose of less of your personal data compared to WhatsApp which knows the physical location and other data.
Signal has higher security! This platform unlike WhatsApp does not have an option that saves chat history. As for Telegram it is less secure than the two platforms above.
Telegram has more powerful features which means, it allows up to 200,000 users in a chat group, unlike Signal which allows up to 1000. Also through Telegram you can send content up to 2GB, 20 times longer much of the Signal limit.
So, is it worth giving up WhatsApp?
It depends on what you expect and want from a communication platform. If you want more privacy and security for your data, you should consider it.
