Days after allegations of sexual assault against designer Alexander Wang surfaced, a company spokeswoman contacted by Women's Wear Daily declined to comment.
Lawyer Harley Lewin, who has worked with Wang in the past, told WWD: "I have been in both of these situations. There are compelling reasons why people treat any allegation of sexual abuse with respect and trust. People tend to react from ridicule or other negative things being said on the internet. "On the other hand, there is a level of innocence, stupidity, honestly."
He added: "I have been through these situations. I was wrongly accused. So I have a sympathy for both parties. I would simply urge people to give both parties a chance to be heard. "People should avoid judgments based on allegations and public complaints."
Lewin does not represent Wang, but said he considers him a friend and colleague. "I know he is a good man and very careful," he said.
Wang's alleged victims have spoken through several videos on TikTok, Instagram and Twitter, to show in detail his behavior. The charges range from saying Wang deceives people, gives them drugs or forces them to get drunk at parties. There are also repeated allegations by some transgender women, who say Wang forced them to expose their genitals.
Alexander Wang is an American designer, born in San Francisco, California, to two Taiwanese parents. From November 2012 to July 2015, Wang was the artistic director of Balenciaga. In 2005 he founded his own brand. He is known for creations inspired by urban style and the use of the color black.
