The Minister of Health in Spain, Salvador Illa, has said that the country will create a vaccination register, which will include all those who refuse to be vaccinated against Covid-19, thus creating a database or a document, which could potentially to be distributed with other countries in Europe.
Days after European Union countries began distributing the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, Salvador said "those who refuse the vaccine, for whatever reason, will be documented."
"What we will have is a register, which will also be shared with our European partners, of those who have been offered and refused the vaccine. The document will not be made public and will be created in full compliance with the legislation for the protection of data. "
A poll in early December suggested that 40.5% of people in the country were willing to be vaccinated immediately, while another 16% said they would only do so if the vaccine seemed "credible".
The vaccination campaign in Spain has started and the first dose was given to a 96-year-old woman, who lived in a care home.
The government expects to vaccinate 20 million people out of 47 million in the country by the end of June.
Covid-19 vaccine hesitation and misinformation is a concern across Europe.
In Italy, the Order of Physicians has launched an investigation into at least 13 doctors accused of either denying the existence of Covid-19 or promoting anti-vaccination theories. The order stated that the doctors had deceived, confused and misinformed the patients.
