European countries launched the mass vaccination program yesterday, calling December 27 a "very touching unification moment".
Of the 27 countries that received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19, about 446 million people started getting vaccinated on Sunday morning, with the rest expected to start following.
So far it is said that Europe has provided more than 2 billion doses of vaccines from several different pharmaceutical companies.
"Today we turn the page of a very difficult year! The Covid-19 vaccine has spread to all European countries. Vaccination is the safest way to escape the pandemic and this is a very touching moment!" - said Ursula von der Leyen .
In Rome, the immunization was initiated by the medical staff of Spallanzani Hospital, whose members were administered the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Slovakia also administered the first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
