How to distinguish speech disorders so as not to say these inappropriate

Lack of information or treatment of various disorders can cause many people, perhaps even without realizing it, to say inappropriate sentences towards someone who has problems in a certain field. The case of one of the competitors of "Për'Puthen", Arjon, put dyslexia in the center of attention.

During yesterday's episode, (December 16) opinionist Arjan Konomi said that Arjoni is dyslexic and started talking in adulthood and somewhere around the age of 15 he started to form sentences more clearly. Having grown up in Italy, communication in the Albanian language has been late, which shows his difficulties in communicating.

Due to the lack of information on his disorder, through social networks the competitor was constantly rumored for not very clear communication.

Based on this, we decided to bring to attention the importance of knowledge on such disorders, as anyone, consciously or unconsciously, can say inappropriate things, especially when information about a disease is scarce.

As we have explained in another article , dyslexia is not related to intelligence; is a neurobiological disorder that affects the parts of the brain involved in language processing. Dyslexia is often known as a reading disability. It is most often identified in childhood when reading problems become apparent. But dyslexia may not be diagnosed for years or even decades. Due to language barriers, these people also have difficulty communicating, but this is not always the case.

Whether dyslexia or not, such disorders may not be understood by other people. To be careful, be careful to be careful not to say inappropriate words when someone:

- repeats sounds and words
- stutters
- adds unnecessary sounds and extra words
- lengthens words
- makes involuntary gestures when talking
- looks frustrated when communicating
- takes frequent pauses when speaking
- distorts sounds
- usually moves his head during conversation

Things you should NEVER say to someone with dyslexia:

1. What you wrote does not make sense?
2. This word is so simple to pronounce!
3. I do not understand at all what you wrote.
4. You are so incompetent.
5. You need to study more.
6. You need to be more organized.
7. It is not that difficult to read.
8. Why does he speak like that?
9. Can you speak better?
10. It will pass.

The lack of a uniform definition of dyslexia makes the problem difficult. Various estimates suggest that up to 5 to 10 percent of the population may have dyslexia. It is usually diagnosed in childhood, but some people are never diagnosed. For more on the symptoms of dyslexia in children and adults, click here .
