Cold weather is not very skin friendly, especially with the hands area. However, if your skin is dry and looks scaly, chances are you are to blame. How so?
During the winter, people tend to wash their hands with warm water, not to mention hot. But hot water has the ability to remove the natural oils and lipids of your skin. This causes cracking, itching and drying of the skin.
This is why dermatologists advise that during the winter, but also in other seasons, wash your hands and face with lukewarm water.
If you think that hot water will help more in removing bacteria and viruses, you are actually wrong because there is no evidence that hot water is more effective in protecting against these microorganisms.
Thus, the winter hand care routine should include:
1 - mild detergent
2 - lukewarm water
3 - moisturizing
