Over 90 years ago, a psychologist proposed that birth order could have an impact on people. The idea gained attention in popular culture. Today, when a child, for example, is spoiled, it happens to say, "Well, he is small."
What is toddler syndrome?
In 1927, psychologist Alfred Adler was the first to write about the birth and characteristics of persons. Over the years, a number of theories and definitions have emerged. But in general, younger children are described as:
- very sociable
- confident
- creative
- problem-solving
- able to persuade others to do things for them
- pet
Characteristic negative
Younger children are often described as mischievous, willing to take unnecessary risks, and less intelligent than their older siblings. Psychologists say parents tend to spoil young children. Researchers have also suggested that younger children sometimes believe they are invincible.
Does birth order really matter?
Toddler syndrome can be just myths. But even if it is something real, it is not a bad thing. The young child has had more experienced caregivers, siblings who have cared for him. After all, having toddler syndrome does not have to be seen only in negative aspects, such as pampering or petting. Young children are also described as social and very creative.
