French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed the closure of the country for the second time, at least for the entire month of November.
The national quarantine will start on Friday and under the new austerity measures, people will be allowed to leave home only for very important jobs or health reasons.
Restaurants, bars and non-core businesses will remain closed for the entire month, while schools and factories will continue to operate. The death toll from Covid-19 in recent weeks is the highest since April. On Tuesday alone, 33,000 new positive cases were confirmed in France.
France's second quarantine, according to the president, requires people to fill out a form to justify leaving home, a rule similar to that of March. Gathering of people is prohibited and citizens will be allowed only 1 hour a day to engage in physical activity. In terms of travel, they will only be allowed if they are important business trips, which are impossible to do from home.
Earlier, President Macron said the country "risks being overwhelmed by a second wave of the virus, which will be even more severe than the first." The new measures will be in force until December 1st.
