Olivia Wilde has responded with laughter to harsh online comments that compared her viral red carpet appearance to the character Gollum from "Lord of the Rings."
The actress responded to criticism of her appearance during a red carpet interview with SFGate via an Instagram story on Saturday, clearly showing that she wasn't bothered by the comments.

Wilde, 42, attributed the change in her appearance to the use of a "fisheye" camera lens, which distorts the image due to its very wide angle, but also admitted it wasn't her best appearance.
She added that it was a "strange" image and that she didn't understand why she had been so close to the camera, admitting that it wasn't necessary.

In an Instagram story , she also published a video with her brother, where he humorously asked her if she wanted to comment on rumors that she was "a resurrected corpse," while she jokingly replied: "I'm not dead."
In the same post, she posted a photo of herself from the red carpet next to an image of Gollum from "Lord of the Rings."
Wilde said: “Listen, this is a fisheye lens . And I admit, is this my best angle? Was this my best look ever? No.”
She added with humor: "It's a shocking image. I don't know why I was so close to the camera, I shouldn't have been."

Then she said: "That's not true," and added with a laugh: "Do you have any other questions? I'm not dead."

The actress was at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24 to promote her new film “The Invite.” While she faced harsh criticism online, she also had many fans come to her defense.
"Bad lighting and bad camera. She actually looks very beautiful and is aging gracefully," one user wrote.
Another said it might have been the camera or the video filters and that she looked better in other shots.
