It is no secret that 2020 has been tough for all personal relationships. The pandemic has limited our ability to socialize and recently, in the US the current political climate seems to be one of the major issues affecting the way people are coming out, or whether they will come out or not.
The upcoming presidential election has become impossible to ignore.
Popular apps like Hinge, Bumble and OkCupid give users the ability to reveal their political views on their profiles and indicate whether they are registered to vote or not.
According to new study from OkCupid, registered voters are 65% more likely to secure an appointment and 85% more likely to receive a message.
Many people, asked by In Style, say that once they see that someone is not registered to vote, they are no longer interested in seeing that profile online.
Others say they see their political beliefs and if it does not match theirs, they simply do not see it as an option.
Of course, there are some who say that they have no problem at all, as long as this would not hinder their relationship.
