Dr. Skënder Murtezani, a specialist in Clinical Medicine and Internal Diseases, from Tetovo, but who lives and practices in New York, said this morning (Monday, October 19) in an interview for "Wake Up" that Albania will be able to successfully manage the virus, in case citizens wear masks for 6 weeks.
Dr. Murtezani stressed that such a decision would limit the further spread of the virus, taking the example of China and other countries where the mask is mandatory everywhere.
"It is not my opinion, but the truth. The masks saved China after mass use and the coronavirus was defeated for a month and a half. New York began using the mask and roughly won the war for three months. New Zealand eradicated the coronavirus in May. Western Europe reduced the number of infected in June. Likewise, states that did not use it, those of South America and states like Florida, Texas, California, are still dealing with Covid-19. While the virus is still being studied, what works should be used. "The vaccine is important, but we still do not know how effective it will be and we do not know if, while the vaccine is being prepared, the coronavirus can undergo transformations and the vaccine will have no effect." - he wrote in a comment on Facebook, four weeks ago.
On his personal Facebook, Dr. Murtezani also distributed a post with the motto "Everyone with masks, in six weeks we will eliminate the pandemic", in collaboration with the Albanian-American College of Physicians and the European Federation of Albanian Doctors. In "Wake Up", the doctor added that the media in Albania should not give importance and attention to people who are against the use of masks, as long as they are not a science specialty.
