As a way to counter hate speech and harassment about women's bodies, Italian-Spanish actress and presenter Vanessa Incontrada posed nude for the cover of Vanity Fair Italia.
"This cover is the most beautiful moment of recent years," she told Vanity Fair. "Finally you see your body giving a message to all women (and men). "We must all face, understand and celebrate such beauty."
In an interview with the magazine, Incontrada talked about motherhood and body language criticism. "In 2008 I gave birth to my son Isal. Motherhood, as it happens to all women, transforms the body. Criticism began. Harsh criticism. Cruel criticism. It is always said that the worst attacks come from those we know. "I do not think so. The words that hurt me the most came from those I did not know."
Then, she continued: “Sometimes you gain weight, sometimes you lose it. One month you are on a diet and want to lose those 3 pounds, another month you feel good about yourself. We are women, this is how our body works. It's natural. It must be accepted as such and above all respected. No one can and should judge you. "
Vanessa also spoke about the moment she made peace with herself. "I finally realized that the body battle was no longer about me, but about all women."
