The new WhatsApp update will allow users to delete a video, photo or gif from someone else's phone after you send it to them. The option, called "The Expiring Media" will enable the "disappearance" of these materials after they have been seen once by the person you are talking to.
To activate such an option, the sender must select the "come once" button when sending a photo or video that will then be deleted.
Once it does, the video / photo will only appear on the recipient's phone when they are online chatting. If they leave the chat, you will see a message notifying them that the submitted material will disappear, so they will not be able to view it a second time.
This option is still under development as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.20.2011. There is no exact release date yet, but such updates usually require many tests for months before they can be used by humans.
Messages that "disappear" is an option which has been used even earlier by Snapchat since 2011.
