Say what you want, but almost all of us have gone through a "I want to go blonde" phase, and famous girls are no exception. Some completely change their looks, others have made platinum blonde a part of their identity.
For example, Gwen Stefani, who remembers her with her natural hair color? We wouldn't recognize her anymore. But unlike some, she at least takes care of her hair. Others haven't been so lucky or careful.
Bleached blonde hair is like extreme diets, it may work for a while, but if you overdo it, it has consequences. Damaged cuticles, hair loss and breakage are the reality of those who can't stop. And yes, stars like Emilia Clarke or Sydney Sweeney are perfect examples of why you should know when to say "enough".
Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney became a blonde icon as Cassie in Euphoria, but her real hair couldn't keep up. "I started with highlights in 'Everything Sucks,' but for 'Euphoria,' I went completely blonde," she said in an interview. "I wasn't getting a lot of roles when I was brunette, but blonde was killing my hair." Sydney is now back to brunette and looks great again.
Miley Cyrus
If there's one lesson to be learned here, it's to never go blonde out of boredom. Miley tried it in 2016 when she went platinum blonde with supermarket dye (!). "I was in a random apartment, bored, and I just...put my hands in my hair," she wrote in a regretful Facebook post at the time. And yes, she did.
Drew Barrymore
In 2018, Drew Barrymore tried bleaching her naturally light brown hair, but the result was a disaster. “My hair looks dead. I’m… sad,” she wrote on Instagram. Honest, as always. “We’ve all had a bad haircut or eyebrows we wish we’d never touched. I wish I had a time machine.”
Emilia Clarke
What she started with a wig in "Game of Thrones" turned into reality for the final season, Emilia Clarke bleached her hair to the shade "dracarys", but regretted it. "My hair was so damaged that I had to cut it. I just want to grow it out and have healthy hair again," she said at the time. Fortunately, the new roles have not required extreme sacrifices.
Zoë Kravitz
From elegant brunette to platinum blonde, Zoë has experimented a lot. But even her hair couldn't survive the total blonde. "I know I should cut it really short. Sometimes you have to accept that you're losing your hair," she gushed after the blunder. Luckily, Zoë still looks great with a pixie cut.
