Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Naomi Campbell, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael B. Jordan, Sacha Baron Cohen, Naomi Campbell and many other celebrities, announced that they will block Instagram for 24 hours, which consists of interrupting posts for an important cause.
The 24-hour campaign comes in collaboration with Stop Hate for Profit (SHFP) and aims to force Facebook, which owns Instagram, to stop using hate speech in the "name of justice".
Stop Hate for Profit - which deals with security and online activity - requires Facebook to block groups that promote violence, groups that show the superiority of one race over another, conspiracy theories, hate speech, untrue information, and so on.
Of course, the #StopHate campaign does not only apply to celebrities, but anyone can share it as a post and then "freeze" their Instagram account for 24 hours. To date, more than 200 million accounts have been distributed across their platforms.

The campaign has also brought the reaction of the people. Some point out that maybe celebrities should block Instagram for more than 24 hours, maybe 1 week or forever, while others point out that this has nothing to do with the Instagram boycott - because no one, at least for celebrities, it will not bite the hand that feeds it - but by bringing it to the attention of a problematic issue.
Facebook has previously said it is taking steps to tackle online misinformation.
