A good portion of people think that certain mental health conditions are rare and occur in other people, not in them. In fact, mental health illnesses are common and widespread. Because the brain is a "mysterious" organ not well studied, many families do not know how to deal with someone who has a certain disorder. Add to this the fact that some people refuse to accept the problem, which worsens their condition.
What exactly is a mental illness?
Mental illnesses / disorders are certain conditions in the brain that affect the thought process, emotions and behaviors. All people have brains, so we all have mental health.
Some people, due to certain brain conditions, are unable to think, feel and act like everyone else. They may experience extreme mood swings, feel sad, worry about normal things. Some others may not be able to communicate or have normal thoughts.
Today, there are more than 200 classification groups of mental illnesses, where some of the most common are: depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, personality changes, etc.
In terms of symptoms, it is important to note that mental illnesses have their own specifics, often different from one individual to another and in some cases, may be the same for different disorders. Having said that, experts find it difficult to present a list of early symptoms, however some of them may help you to understand from the beginning that a family member or social group has a certain mental problem.
