After the pandemic, everything in people's lives changed, from social distancing to personal hygiene. Public health experts are waiting for a vaccine, which is likely to return to normal, however the likelihood is that nothing will be the same as before. What exactly does this mean?
We will continue to wear masks
Launching a vaccine does not translate into eradication of the virus. Health experts point out that even after the vaccine, some people will continue to wear masks, especially those who are more prone to infection.
"Wearing a mask will become normal, as has been the case in many Asian countries in recent years," said (via HuffPost) Hilary Godwin, dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Washington.
Scientists will continue to study the effectiveness of the vaccine
The speed with which science is working to create a vaccine is impressive, but on the other hand all the pressure to have a widely accepted product certainly has negative effects as well. This means that even after vaccination, experts will continue research.
There will be fewer business trips and more new internship opportunities
With the development of technology and other industries, the world is likely to make fewer business trips to apply other forms of communication. "We do not have to be physically in the same room to work," Godwin said.
She also added that companies will also adapt to the practice of working from home and will need to be more flexible with remote work policies.
There will be no concerts ... soon
Although vaccines may be on the market and be effective, big crowded sporting events or concerts are still not expected to be part of our normalcy. It is true that open spaces are not very dangerous, but we can not say the same about social gatherings.
We can have mental health problems and more
There is no doubt that the pandemic found humanity unprepared and the events affected everyone’s lives. People at risk for depression may have had their condition worsen. Experts are concerned about depression, anxiety, suicide rates as well as marital problems.
Attention will be returned (hopefully) to strengthening the health system
Epidemics and pandemics are a crisis for any health system, so one of the sectors where the authorities need to intervene is undoubtedly that of public health.
The virus will not go away completely
Covid-19 will not disappear when the vaccine is invented. Experts say the virus will continue to circulate even if the vaccine is effective. We will have to live with Covid for an indefinite period of time.
