After her divorce from Prince Charles, Lady Diana, one of the most influential style icons of the twentieth century, was seen dressing up with brands like Christian Dior, Versace or Jimmy Choo, but for a period of time avoided Chanel dresses.
According to stylist Jayson Brundson, who spoke to Harper's Bazaar (via Marie Claire) about his work with Diana in 1996, she avoided Chanel because of the brand's iconic logo, which consists of two C.
"After [Joh Bailey] finished trimming her hair, she was preparing for a hospital visit [to Australia] and had chosen a Versace suit. He came out holding shoes and bags in his arms and just threw them on the bed. He said to me, 'What do you think?' I looked around and found a pair of Chanel shoes and said, 'Well these would look great with Versace'. She told me: "No, I can not wear them, they have the Chanel logo."
Brundson added that he asked her the reason for such a decision and Lady Diana replied: "I can not wear the logo with two C. It's Camilla and Charles."
"It was time for a divorce. She connected the two Cs with Charles and Camilla. "
Lady Diana split from Prince Charles in 1992 when she learned of his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, currently his wife. In an interview with the BBC after the split, Diana said: "There were three people in the marriage, it was overcrowded." The divorce was finalized in 1996.
