Another virus discovered in China has the potential to turn into a pandemic. Recently, a type of flu has been identified in pigs that can infect humans. Researchers are concerned about the spread of the virus, as people may have little or no immunity to it. Scientists at the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences say they need to be closely monitored to prevent further developments. The last swine flu was in 2009, but much less deadly than expected. Currently the whole world is very busy with coronavirus, but this new risk should not be ignored.
What do we know about this virus?
- This virus called G4 EA H1H1 can multiply in the cell.
- There is currently no vaccine for the virus.
- What makes this virus dangerous, for the creation of a new pandemic, is that it can be spread very quickly and simply from one person to another.
- Creating a vaccine is difficult because viruses are constantly changing.
