You?ve probably never thought about what space smells like, but as long as you?re in this article, it means you?re curious. A new perfume will give us the answer.
Eau de Space is a perfume created by chemist Steve Pearce, who was contacted by NASA in 2008. According to Matt Richmond, product manager, it took the chemist nearly four years to create the space scent.
The perfume was produced by Kickstarter, an American corporation that serves as a global platform for fundraising in connection with creative projects. The Eau de Space was created to help astronauts train. NASA's goal was to eliminate any unpleasant surprises from astronauts in space.
Richmond said "astronauts describe the scent of space as a mixture of gunpowder, steak, raspberries and rum." He also added that they will also create a Smell of the Moon perfume that will try to bring fragrance to the Moon.
