Recently, Snapchat joined Twitter to stop promoting the account of US President Donald Trump, following public statements that could provoke violence.
Snapchat has stated that the president's account will remain intact, but will no longer be promoted to Discover, where celebrity accounts are promoted.
The decision by Snapchat and Twitter is a consequence of Trump's aggressive posts. Over the past week, Twitter has been flooded with a series of posts misinforming and promoting violence. Unlike these platforms, Facebook said it would not intervene "in the name of freedom of speech."
Twitter and Snapchat took action after Trump threatened to send "wild dogs" and "weapons" to stop the protests that have engulfed America after the assassination of George Floyd.
"We will not allow voices that promote racial violence and injustice by promoting them," said Rachel Racusen, a Snapchat spokeswoman.
