Parents initially noticed that the boy had difficulty breathing, while doctors thought it was a bacterial infection. The medications taken did not work, while the baby's condition worsened. When the parents rushed him to the hospital and performed the test, he tested positive for coronavirus.
Although it is still a mystery how the baby became infected, today his case is considered a "miracle" by doctors.
"At first I felt liberated, then I felt a happiness that I can't describe in words. We were bringing it home after more than 50 days," said the baby's father.
Last week, Latin America returned to the epicenter of global pandemic. With 465,166 confirmed cases and 27,878 victims, Brazil is the hardest hit country in the region according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University.
