The government on Wednesday approved a bilateral agreement with the Turkish government on the mutual recognition of driving licenses. According to the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, this agreement will enable Albanian citizens to travel to Turkey without the need to obtain an international driving license and vice versa.
Other countries that recognize Albanian patents, referring to Facebook communication a year ago of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, are:
Belgium: Albanian citizens in Belgium, for a period of less than 3 months, can use the Albanian driving license. In case of longer stay in Belgium than the period in question, then Albanian citizens must convert the Albanian driving license into a Belgian driving license, according to the procedures followed in the respective municipalities.
Croatia: Albanian citizens in Croatia can count on driving licenses based on the bilateral agreement from 2015 onwards.
Northern Macedonia: Albanian citizens in Northern Macedonia can count on driving licenses based on the bilateral agreement from 2013 onwards.
Serbia: Albanian citizens in Serbia can calculate their driving licenses based on the bilateral agreement from 2015 onwards.
Montenegro: Albanian citizens in Montenegro can count on driving licenses based on the bilateral agreement from 2015 onwards.
Kosovo: Albanian citizens in Kosovo can count on driving licenses based on the bilateral agreement from 2012 onwards. After the deadline, the agreement was renewed and entered into force in May 2019.
Also in January this year, Greece also recognized Albanian patents, following the approval of the Greek Parliament. Following the agreement, all citizens residing in Greece / Albania will receive a patent from another country, without the need for a theoretical and practical examination, while citizens traveling to Greece will not need to obtain an international patent.
Years ago in September, the decision was approved that all Albanian citizens, who have a driving license issued after 2017, can move to Italy for one year.
