Some researchers in Belgium say that lamas, common animals on farms, can serve to create the coronavirus vaccine.
Researchers at the VIP Center for Medical Biotechnology in Ghent, Belgium, think that lamat-produced antibodies have an effect on the fight against Covid-19.
According to Business Insider, scientists in the lab have studied lamina antibodies to the MERS and SARS virus - viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19 disease.
Since January, the group is studying Covid-19 and has expanded its staff from 2 employees to 20.
"We've worked really hard, long hours, and especially in February and March, where we're trying to study antibodies," Nico Callewaert, director of the VIB Center, told CNN.
They are testing antibodies by initially placing them in several species of rodents. The group hopes the tests will work for humans as well.
"Some studies on toxicity are needed and animal experiments need to be repeated, but we hope to have the first clinical trial by the end of the year," another lab researcher told CNN.
