In a Facebook post, the Union of Student Councils announces that based on a previously conducted questionnaire, the request to the Ministry of Education for halving school fees was deemed necessary.
"The current very difficult situation has affected every link of the economy, where the Albanian families are in the most difficult situation, and moreover the families where there are students. Tuition fees are unreasonable and impossible to pay in such a situation.
Through this open letter, where we explain the reasons for our stay, the Union of Student Councils invites the Institution of the Ministry of Education to take seriously the real and very necessary requests from the students. ? - is written in the post.
In a letter to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, students demand:
- halving the obligations of tuition fees for all students for the academic year 2019-2020;
-halving the housing obligations for students living in dormitories.
"The financial facilitation measures required above do not cover the effect created by this situation, but mitigate its effects on students and are in direct proportion to the services received from them," the letter reads.
Until these moments (Monday, 17:00), the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Besa Shahini, has not reacted.
