Rita Ora's reaction to the pandemic is a tale

Rita Ora's reaction to the pandemic is a tale

While the spread of Covid-19 has not stopped, people all over the world are trying to figure out how to behave - and these people include celebrities.

Some well-known names, such as Idris Elba and Tom Hanks, are sharing their experiences with the world after being diagnosed with the virus and many others are making followers aware of the situation. However, some celebrities are not doing the right thing with the big platforms in their hands. On March 19, a video of Gal Gadot and dozens of other celebrities singing "Imagine" went viral and turned into a joke of the day because it was insensitive and useless. How does a video of Hollywood's wealthy help us when people are losing relatives every day? Finally, another well-known name is in the spotlight for the inappropriate response to the pandemic: Rita Ora.

On March 19, Rita Ora announced the launch of T-shirts for the coronavirus, a tagline we never thought we would ever write. The collection of short-sleeved and hooded T-shirts has the design of the Covid-19-causing virus with the nested peace sign and the phrase: "Prevent the spread, do your part." According to the singer, the collection is a collaboration with the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization, and all proceeds go to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which assists health workers with essential equipment and funds research into the virus and finding a vaccine. Rita Ora said on Instagram that the goal of the T-shirts was "to raise awareness."

One Twitter user wrote about the situation: "These t-shirts are making tailors working in dangerous conditions." And another added: "Instead of donating, she's putting on the market insensitive t-shirts that will just end up in the trash to buy people in distress." And in fact, how are we supposed to make others aware by wearing T-shirts with the coronavirus symbol when no one sees them. We are supposed to be home. When the whole thing is over, no one will come around with the pandemic symbol on their chest, so they will end up in the trash.

The fight against coronavirus is a common struggle. We applaud Rita for trying to donate all the profits from the T-shirt sale, but we can't say the reaction is inappropriate. Small businesses have been forced to close doors, people are losing their jobs, hospitals no longer have masks and ventilators, antibacterial gels are hard to come by and these are just some of the things that are threatening the lives we are used to. Maybe t-shirts look like a good idea, but Rita should have asked herself some questions: ?Who is making these t-shirts? Are they paid enough? Do they have the right to go home if they do not feel well? Do they harm the environment? It would be simpler to ask people to donate as much as they could or given the opportunity themselves, to donate first and followers - in the first sense of the word - to follow her example.
