Not everything that goes viral on social networks is fact-based. Finally, a "simple self-test" is being run to see whether or not you are infected with coronavirus, but according to experts all this is inappropriate.
Part of this test requires people to hold their breath for more than 10 seconds. If they manage to breathe without coughing afterwards, it indicates that they do not have the virus. This post was originally distributed on Twitter, Facebook and even emails "assuring" people that it holds the authorization of one of the Stanford Hospital members. The latter have dismissed such information as saying it is inaccurate and "dangerous" posting.
Hospital doctors explain that when people suffer from a chronic illness they may find it difficult to breathe without coughing, because their airways quickly become irritated. This bogus test shows nothing about the coronavirus and simply adds panic to the citizens.
However, this "simple test" is not the only myth circulating in this period. People have inadvertently read and believed fake news about us as a result of the anxiety that the pandemic causes.
