Thomas R. Frieden, an infectious disease physician and former director of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told the media that "people can be affected by coronavirus even if they have no symptoms." It also included children whose Covid-19 touch rate is almost negligible.
"The spread of the virus to more than 89,000 people around the world has been an emergency," he said. "We have never before seen a pathogen have such a global spread." Frieden explained that it may be possible for people, including children, to be secret carriers of the virus, even if they have no symptoms.
He cited the case of a 10-year-old man who was present at the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China. The 10-year-old did not show any symptoms of the virus, but when parents insisted that doctors take the test, the result was positive.
"The fact that children can become infected but do not show symptoms presents a challenge for pediatricians," he said.
