Thousands are flocking to downtown Los Angeles to remember Kobe and Gianna Bryant in a public homage to be held today.
The basketball legend and his 13-year-old daughter died in a helicopter crash on January 26th. Seven other people also did not survive the collision.
The homage will be held at Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, for which Bryant played throughout his 20-year career. The event kicks off at 10am and is expected to air on Yahoo Sports.
20,000 tickets went on sale, ranging from $ 24.02 to $ 224. The symbolic figure represents Kobe's jersey number, 24, and Gianna's jersey number, 2. Other locations were reserved for family, society, and NBA members.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, the charity that Bryant founded and renamed by his wife, Vanessa, in honor of their daughter.
Except for those with tickets, others will not be allowed to approach the Staples Center. Fans of the athlete have been encouraged to watch the homage from home.
