Following the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, one of the most common online questions relates to the danger of Made in China products and the transmission of the virus through pets, such as dogs and cats.
As we noted in another article , there is no risk of products coming from China, such as packages ordered at Alibaba or AliExpress. Even in the worst case - for example, an infected person hit the bag ordered by AliBaba, sent it by mail and fell into the hands of the recipient - the risk is almost zero. Little is known about this specific virus because it is young, but its siblings, SARS and MERS, can only live for a few hours on the surface of an object. It takes at least a week for a package to come from China to Albania, so the virus would not survive long enough to infect the recipient of the package. These types of viruses can pass from person to person.
As regards food products of animal origin imported from China, the EU allows only those products that comply with strict food safety requirements. For this reason, at every customs point, the EU has conducted investigations and has not allowed passengers to carry in their luggage meat, meat products, milk or its by-products.
So far, according to the World Health Organization, there is no reporting of Covid-19 transmission through food.
Another dilemma relates to contact with Albanian animals. Do they pose a risk?
Current research links the coronavirus to a certain type of nocturnal nude that was sold in markets in Wuhan, but does not exclude infection from other animals. However there is no disturbing evidence that pets such as dogs and cats pose a risk of infection. But this does not mean that you do not wash your hands after being in contact with animals.
