If you've ever wondered how all Instagram models have the same face (big eyes, swollen lips, small nose, beard) - a bit of a mix of Hadid, Kardashian and Jenner, the answer has historically been Photoshop . Or one of the hundreds of apps used to edit photos.
But, it seems, people are taking the next step and undergoing a cosmetic intervention called fiber pull to pull the eye area.
What is thread pulling?
Thread pulling, for those who don't know, is a non-surgical eyebrow pull consisting of inserting a soluble filament into the face and pulling the skin through this thread.
Soluble yarns are covered in microscopic pins that cling to the tissue, pull it in and ensure it stays in place.
How long does the effect last?
Withdrawal takes two to three weeks. Then the body begins to thaw and the effect fades. If the intervention is repeated several times, the body begins to build up collagen in that area, making the effect last longer. Just for that to happen, it has to be done many times.
Are they dangerous?
However, doctors recommend only two thread pulls per year. The temple and eyebrow temple area is very small and compression of several strands in that narrow vector causes trauma and irritation to the skin. Moreover, the body can reject and destroy them by pushing them out of the skin.
