That Harvey Weinstein, the abuser and rapist of dozens of women, has a wife for lawyers, is naturally strange. For her own lawyer, Donna Rotunno, there is no problem in defending one of the enemy's alleged women. According to her, she has never been sexually harassed because "she never put herself in that position."
She was interviewed for The Daily, a New York Times podcast, by Megan Twohey who asked her is a victim of a sexual assault. "I'm not because I've never put myself in that position," Rotunno said.
"So you're saying you were never sexually harassed because you never put yourself in a position where you could be sexually harassed," Twohey asked.
?Since I was in college, I've made smart choices. I didn't drink much, I didn't bring home people I didn't know, I never put myself in a dangerous position, ?Rotunno said.
Twohey asked if Rotunno believes that any raped or raped woman put her in that position. Rotunno withdrew immediately. "Of course not," she said. "I'm just saying that women need to be more careful."
The interview was published a day after the defense brought the first witness, Paul Feldsher, a close friend of the accused, to the court, who went against Weinstein. He called the producer "sex addict" and "greedy." The next hearing is Thursday.
Weinstein is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual harassment. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
